Born in the UK and raised in a small beach town on Australia’s east coast, Maalik grew up with the ocean as a constant part of his life. He started competitive swimming at just four years old and later raced semi-professionally as a surf ironman across Australia before finding his way into modelling. His fascination with human performance has stayed with him, but it’s matched by an equally strong curiosity about people and culture.
Maalik loves understanding why people do what they do, what shapes their interests and what makes something feel relevant or cool. Music is another fascination, particularly the way sound can create emotion. Still most at home around the ocean, whether bodysurfing or night surfing under a full moon, Maalik approaches life with the same mindset: stay curious and always remain a student.
