Growing up in East Frisia, Stefan went almost straight from his final school exam to Paris Fashion Week, missing his own graduation ceremony in the process. Before that, his side job involved securing cars on container ships at the local harbour, so modelling opened up a very different world. Over the next 16 years, he lived and worked everywhere from New York and Paris to Los Angeles and Tokyo before eventually settling in Barcelona.

Along the way, Stefan completed a degree in Business Psychology, developing a fascination for behavioural finance, investing and longevity. Football has been another constant since his years playing at a competitive youth level, although his most unexpected sporting achievement might be the 30 to 40 trophies he still owns from his days as a champion junior rabbit breeder. Today, however, life revolves mostly around his two daughters, family and the occasional Schalke crisis.
